Project
A strip of land to the rear of gardens had been to grow wild. The client wishes to convert this for 4 car parking spaces.
Brief
The site appears to be ideally situated for this conversion as nearly all the rear gardens have car parking to the
rear. The client wished to have a retaining wall support the carparking area and for the residue of the property to
be given over to a garden which would be used by one of the residents of the flats below.
Design
The side walls are to be retained and a retaining wall to be built parallel to the pavement. The depth of the
parking area to be sufficient for a van (5.5m). railings were chosen for the south side to allow as much light as
possible to the garden below. The side walls (above parking ground level) to be built in reclaimed ashlar stone
and all retaining walls to have rubble stone facing.
